I was talking to a patient today about our winter excursions.
Poor thing...I wholeheartedly recommended Costa Rica for his wife and his annual retreat. Lets just say, it wasn't all they dreamed of. I don't take back my recommendation at all, although maybe next time i'll be more selective in whom i tell. Maybe it's just for someone who is more in the mood for adventure, or someone who can deal with "bars on the windows" (oooo soo scary!). But I'm not here to tell you their story, or talk you out of (or into) visiting Costa Rica, rather I introduce him because I was talking to him about my next trip, well at least, 'an upcoming trip', and it led to all this...
My next road trip would include driving west through New Orleans and Arizona (i mention these two b/c I'd like to stop and enjoy the culture of these two places, but I know that more states would obviously be included). Then North to the Grand Canyon to do some white water rafting and hiking....and who knows MAYBE I'll end up in Vegas for a couple days. ;)
Anyways, he was talking to me about visiting California and the Redwoods. It's always been appealing to me but never at the top of my bucket list. But look at this...it looks amazing, and I know that pictures never do beautiful scenery justice.
Then he mentioned visiting Western Canada for the landscape and even a "Heli Glacier Walk"! Yes. You go in a helicopter, they land on a glacier, and you take a hike...ON A GLACIER!
So, I'm tempted to do some more research on what places, people, and parks are accessible by car (or helicopter)
Where do you want to go? What do you want to see? What do you want to do?

We visited the Redwoods in California when we went last October. I highly recommend it. There's a gift shop built into a redwood tree! NEATO! But really just the massive size of those things are impressive

CAMBODIA OR BUST. Even if it means I have to shave my head and grow a beard. Ew. Maybe I'll just find a way to extort Liam Neeson, so he has no choice but to adopt me. Yeah, that's a much better option.
ReplyDeleteI have been wanting to see the redwoods ever since I knew what they were! We're going to try to go sometime soon, if not, i'm going myself! (don't think that'll actually happen but... yeah)
ReplyDeleteMaking trip recommendations and listening to them is like giving opinions on movies or music and hearing the recommendations: it's up to each individual to make up their own mind or decision about it.
Yesterday a friend and I went wandering through the hills around Graz, a city in Austria... we stopped in a clearing in the woods where I glanced upward to see the diminished sunlight sparkle through the trees, whose branches, burdened by snow, gently scattered the glistening white dust onto the earth. It was so lovely, I wanted to lay down and hibernate.

Anyway, during that event, I thought briefly of your post, which I had already read, and wondered, if the redwoods could be even more beautiful... I don't imagine that this would be the case merely due to their size. I would still like to see them though.
I suppose I would like to visit an asian or african land if I could find an area, where the lifestyle of the people is not very westernized. Yet I really haven't done enough research to know what places would fulfill that condition.
